Extinction

    Betty was not happy about extinction. She experienced both extinction burst and spontaneous recovery. Betty experienced an extinction burst when placed in the operant box and had a surge of presses. She experienced spontaneous recovery on the second day when she was placed in the operant box and automatically started pressing the lever hoping to receive a chocolate pellet. When the pressing did not work, she started to bite the lever.
